For some of the best margaritas and gauc in Carson City, be sure to visit San Marcos Grill. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly and make your guacamole in front of you with a smile on their face. Their signature dish is the Lava Rock, a heaping portion of chicken, steak and shrimp severed under a red pepper sauce with sliced jalapeños in a mortar (hence the "rock"). At only twenty dollars and with enough food for two, it's one of Carson City's best deals. There's also a huge bar and live music on Fridays, so plan on staying for a while if you visit on the weekends.

One trip to the Basil Restaurant and it will be your go-to place for Thai food in Carson City. First off, the Duck Pineapple Curry is spectacular. It's served inside a hollowed out pineapple with pineapple chunks, tons of meat and drenched in a sweet curry sauce. The ambiance here is great too, bright and quiet with beautiful decor. For spicy, order up the Spicy Basil Noodles and a mango roll to calm down your taste buds.

Mom & Pop's is the number one place in Carson City for brunch. They serve what has to be the world's biggest cinnamon roll, and the rest of their dishes come in huge portions. Breakfast food is definitely the speciality here. The eggs Benedict with crab cakes and hash browns is colossal, and there's no compromise on the quality. The ambiance is exactly what you'd expect from a mom and pop diner: The restaurant is bright with natural lighting, and the waitstaff is exceptionally vibrant.

Red's is one of the most unique locations in Carson City. The walls are full of old-timey decorations like beer bottles from the past, and antique carriages hang from the ceilings. But for as excellent as the ambience is, the food is even better. Their barbecue options, like briskets and sausages, are cooked to perfection, and the sandwiches and burgers are stunning. The Thunder Humper, a glorified sloppy joe with red onions, is a must-try for newbies. A word of advice: make sure you come in on an empty stomach, since the food is practically overflowing from the plate.

Carson City is no stranger to Asian food, and Ming's is its shining gem. Everything here is sure to make your mouth water, from the sushi to the standard Chinese fare like their General Tso's Chicken. For seafood fans, the giant mussels, sprinkled with sesame sauce and chives, are to die for. The sushi here is excellent too, especially the Nigiri Plate. Best of all, they have an all you can eat sushi special for under $20 at lunch time!

Cafe at Adele's

Phone:

Don't expect anything standard with the food here. Everything from the open-faced pulled pork to the Greek pizza and seafood salad are made with total care and a gorgeous presentation. Even their strawberry shortcake has a very unique presentation — but one bite into it, and you'll have no problems dismantling it. While the food here is great, the ambiance is really what makes this place shine. It's pretty upscale, but the homestyle seating, (divans, armchairs and beautiful wood tables) are more than enough to make you feel cozy.
